Some close up pics of Rafael Nadal

Wednesday, March 24th, 2010

As we sift through all the pictures we got while at the BNP Paribas Open last week, we have decided to post a few of the close up pictures we got of tennis superstar Rafael Nadal during his warm up just before his semi final match against Ivan Ljubicic.

Although he did not actually win that match, he sure as heck made it so that us tennis spectators could watch some great tennis. Nadal’s massive spinning ground strokes were a sight to be seen. One thing that we picked up on – as we were so close to the tennis players – is that these guys are HUGE! We all know that the tennis players are generally tall (6 feet or more), but when you are just feet from them, they are what seem to be chiseled from marble. Their muscles and the frames they carry them on, are just breathtaking. When you watch them on TV, it really does not justify their presence. We gotta hand it to them for keeping their bodies in peak physical condition.

As with Andy Roddick, Rafa refused a picture with the tennisthis.com team, but that’s ok. We were still able to get close enough to see the sweat drip from his face.

We love Andy still

Hey readers,

We’re finally back, after a long weekend of watching tennis at the BNP Open, we’re ready to share some of the things we saw at the tennis tournament. We caught a glimpse of Andy Roddick warming up before his match against Ivan Ljubicic in the finals. As he headed to the locker room, you can imagine the rush of fans lining up to get his autograph – we were able to get a couple of close up pictures of the world #8. He wouldn’t pose for a picture with us, but that’s ok, he’s a busy guy. :)

More autographs

Although Roddick lost the tennis match, it sure was close. Roddick and Ljubicic were pretty much battling serves back and forth – Ljubicic cranked a serve at 138mph. The first set, Roddick was given 3 break chances, but was unable to convert them so he settled in going to a deciding tie-break, which he lost.

It was a great tennis match if you were there and we’re sure it was great on TV too. It wasn’t the outcome that most of us were hoping for but that’s ok, it’s always great to watch Andy Roddick play some great tennis. Ljubicic finished out the second set – and the win – in just over 2 hours 7-6, 7-6.

We wish Andy Roddick the best of luck in Miami where he will be playing at the Sony Erricsson Open.

We’ll be back shortly with more post and pictures of the BNP Paribas Open.
