Mantis Power Polyester 17 tennis string review
Mantis Power Polyester 17

I never really intended to play test the Mantis Power Polyester tennis string, I was simply browsing for an affordable set of tennis strings. I’m really happy that I came across this very soft feeling Mantis Power Poly tennis string.

Mantis Power Polyester 17 review

This was the last string out of my current set of strings to play test, so I just “threw” them on my tennis racket. Stringing was easy and weaved very nicely, knotting was easy as the knots cinched quickly and tightly.

I wasn’t sure what to expect from the strings, pretty much because I had never thought to test them before. My initial impression was that they felt…normal. Nothing out of the ordinary, just normal. Of course, that was just my first impression. As soon as I found my rhythm I found the life of the Power Poly from Mantis! Boy oh boy, what a wonderful feeling tennis string.

When I zoned in on my stroke and hit the ball in the sweetspot, the ball would rocket across the net at an astounding pace and I did not feel like I hit the ball hard at all! I was ripping on the balls with the Mantis Power Polyester 17, I was just killing it! I was really impressed with the power and control this string offered me; penetrating groundstrokes, slices that stayed very low, and just an all around great tennis string.

The only thing that I didn’t love about the Mantis Power Polyester 17 string, was that I didn’t get any additional spin off well stroked shots. The string did not lack spin, though I did not find that it provided any additional spin, then again, the Mantis Power Polyester 17 is a round tennis string (unlike some textured tennis strings). Honestly, my fellow tennis fan, this strings’ power and control more than makes up for the not so spin friendly tennis string.

Mantis Power Polyester conclusion

Because the Mantis Power Polyester is naturally a soft string, my arm did not hurt one bit. I nearly felt invincible with this string, my arm felt fresh and did not ache whatsoever during or after practice and match play. If you have any arm problems and like the feel of an all polyester string setup, I highly recommend you give the Mantis Power Polyester 17 a try, you will not regret it.

I still have this set in my tennis racquet and I have played 3 hard serving and hard hitting sets; about 4 hours of groundstroke practice, and this string still feel great! I gotta hand it to Mantis for making such a durable, soft, powerful, and control oriented tennis string! I absolutely love this string for those days when you just want to rip on the ball and not spend too much money on a tennis string ($10 for a set).
