Federer Tops Djokovic Meets Nadal In French Open Final

HOLY TENNIS BALLS BATMAN! The unthinkable happened today! Novak Djokovic’s perfect 2011 tennis season came to an end in unexpected fashion.

Former world #1 and 2009 French Open Champion, Roger Federer made Djokovic feel human again, ousting the Serb in four sets on Friday’s semi final match in Roland Garros. Djokovic was the heavy favorite going into the match, coming off of a 41-0 win streak in 2011, where as the fading Federer has not been at his best all season long losing key matches.

You have to hand it to Djokovic though, that was quite an impressive run he’s had this year. I mean, 41-0! That’s 41 tennis matches of pure athleticism, determination, and class. Just that record alone should have it’s own trophy, right?

Now onto the juicy stuff, the 2011 French Open Final on Sunday. I cannot wait to watch that match! I’ll have to prepare early with some strong coffee and some good breakfast, after all, it starts at 6am on a Sunday – I’m on the West Coast. Nadal v. Federer…two of the greatest champions the world has ever known. They have battled back and forth over the years, each beating the other to be crowned the victor.

The only problem is, Federer has never beaten Nadal at Roland Garros, not once. Could it be that this is his chance? Would that be sweeter than a career slam? A golden slam? It’s like Andy Roddick beating Federer at Wimbledon. Yes, it’s that good. We have all witnessed some of the best tennis matches on the red clay in Paris, of course between Nadal and Federer, but what is scheduled for Sunday is going to be of epic proportions. I can’t even begin to imagine the reaction that Federer would have if he were to beat Nadal on the red clay. I’m giddy just thinking about it.

Oh and on a side note, Nadal will remain #1 with Djokovic not making the French Open final.
