2018 Babolat Pure Drive Tennis Racquet!

June 29, 2017 By G.O.A.T 14 Comments

The 2018 Babolat Pure Drive is almost here! It’s been a while since Babolat released an updated version of the ever famous Pure Drive tennis racquet. The last release was back in 2015 when the updated cortex was installed. Of course, the paint has changed since then with various limited edition Wimbledon models and the French Open paint jobs. But nothing has really changed since the updated “Active Cortex” version of the Pure Drive.

That’s all changing with the 2018 Babolat Pure Drive model! And the paint too!

What’s new with the 2018 Babolat Pure Drive?

The 2018 Babolat Pure Drive will provide improved vibration dampening, just as Babolat did with the Pure Aero – the Cortex system is built into the racquet handle, it’s not visible and it’s called “”Cortex Pure Feel”.

The 2018 Babolat Pure Drive will keep it’s anti-twisting frame shape (elliptical) which optimizes the power of the racquet. The Pure Drive will include the updated “Woofer Technology” that will be integrated into the frame itself. The Woofer Technology will allow the strings to interact more with the ball upon impact. Basically, we’re talking more spin as the Woofer Technology will give your stringbed more snap-back.

The Pure Drive will include FSI Power, just like the Pure Strike series (also known as the Project One7) of tennis racquets. While FSI Power is not new, it will be new for the Pure Drive line.

FSI Power will be integrated in the same 16×19 string pattern but the strings will be longer (from end to end) thus increasing the sweetspot of the racquet and giving you more power! Spin will also come easier with the FSI Power technology.

And lastly, the paint cosmetics of the new Pure Drive have been updated. Looks a bit similar to the 2012 Babolat Pure Drive GT. That light blue with some white and black. I’m a little on the fence about this one, but so far it’s ok.

2018 Babolat Pure Drive Specs:

Head Size: 100 sq / inches
Weight: 300 gr (10.5oz)
Balance: 32.0 cm (7 points Head Light)
String Pattern: 16/19
Length: 27 inch
RA (Stiffness): 72

When will the 2018 Babolat Pure Drive be available?
