It seems that not much has come from American tennis since the Sony Ericsson Open way back in March, where Mardy Fish reach the quarterfinals and where Andy Roddick ousted his nemesis Roger Federer in the fourth round. The 2011 French Open third rounder has officially pulled out of the 2012 French Open, citing fatigue. Mardy has not played in a tennis tournament since Miami and is now in danger of slipping down the ATP rankings. Andy Roddick will be making an appearance this year, but I don’t expect he will go past the third round, if he’s lucky.
It has also been confirmed that Robin Soderling is going to not be participating in the 2012 French Open as well, he is still recovering from his bout with Mono.
It’s not that Mardy Fish was a threat to anybody in the top 5 in Roland Garros, so it’s not a total loss. I’m sure neither Djokovic, Nadal, Federer, or even Murray will notice his absence.
