Top Earning Tennis Athletes

September 26, 2016 By G.O.A.T Leave a Comment

The top earning tennis athletes are tremendously successful. They’re also tremendously rare. There really is only room for a small number of people to be successful in the world of professional sports at any given time, and that is particularly true for non-team sports like tennis.

The highest-paid tennis player working today is Roger Federer. There is still a gendered pay gap even in the world of professional tennis, and the highest-paid tennis player is going to be a man as a result. Roger Federer has managed to earn 67.8 million dollars, partly through his exemplary playing and partly through his tremendous corporate endorsements. Roger Federer has taken home seventeen Grand Slam titles and he is ranked number four according to the Association of Tennis Professionals. That’s not something that people could win at the Euro Palace casino.

The second man in line in terms of earnings after Roger Federer is Novak Djokovic. His earnings have totaled 55.8 million dollars. The Association of Tennis Professionals actually considers him number one, interestingly enough, even though Roger Federer is actually outpacing him in terms of earnings. The top earning tennis athletes are not necessarily the ones that are the most highly acclaimed, although the two distinctions certainly do relate to one another. It’s difficult to sustain a tennis career or to get one in the first place. However, the people who get to that point can truly become very successful.

When asked about the most highly-paid woman in the world of tennis, many people would have named ‘Serena Williams’ years ago. Serena Williams is still the most highly paid woman in the world of tennis. She is one of the few tennis players that people outside of the field of tennis have even heard of, demonstrating the longevity of her career and her immense talent as a player. She has managed to take home twenty-two Grand Slam singles titles over the course of her career, and her earnings add up to 28.9 million dollars. Her multiple corporate endorsement deals have only added to her tremendous financial success as a tennis player.

Maria Sharapova is just behind Serena Williams on the list of the highest-earning women in tennis. Her earnings total 21.9 million dollars. She started in tennis very young, and she has managed to stay in the field for a comparatively long time as well. Her career has had quite a few ups and downs, given the number of injuries that she has sustained and some of the scandals that have arisen in recent years. Still, her professional achievements speak for themselves, since she has won five Grand Slam titles. People can’t easily earn 21.9 million dollars at the Euro Palace casino. However, it’s still more likely that they’ll get a huge seven-figure jackpot there than a tennis career like Maria Sharapova’s.
