When it comes to professional athletes, especially the elite, it’s no surprise when they are required to submit to random drug testing. You know, to just make sure that they are, in fact, capable of performing as well as they do by their own efforts and without the help of performance enhancing drugs.
Just last week, former WTA #1, Serena Williams was the victim of random drug testing, however; instead of submitting some pee-pee, the tennis diva went into seclusion in her “safe room.” Apparently Williams thought the person who rung the doorbell and waiting patiently for a response, was a burglar or some type of bad person – rather skiddish I’d say.
My question is, why does Serena Williams have a safe room in her house to begin with? Does Serena really have that many people to fear that she needs to have a safe room in a house she probably spends only one month in a year? This whole scenario also begs the question, “Is Serena Williams on drugs?” It’s not like it’s something new that Williams has to go through, all pros have to do it and so does she. Was Serena dodging the drug test bullet intentionally? Only the WTA and Williams know the absolute truth.
Obviously, I’m not accusing Serena Williams of being a drug user at all! I’m just looking at the circumstances of this whole situation. Serena know she’s getting test at some point, drug tester goes to door, rings doorbell, waits, LAPD show up and question guy at door, claims he’s WTA drug tester, Williams hiding in closet, no urine was gathered for test. Sounds suspicious to me.
What do you all think? Is Serena Williams using performance enhancing drugs? Was it just coincidental that this played out the way it did? Was Serena intentionally trying to buy herself some “sobering” time? Let me know what you think in the comments below!

G.O.A.T. you, along with undoubtedly many of those who responded, clearly, reveal their own financial status, because I worked years around wealthy individuals and having safe rooms in their homes is quite common. Acourse when one only have basements & attics, you wouldn’t expect such individuals to understand what a safe room is. Oh by the way all you Serena haters, she passed the drug test. Hmmmm, I wonder if they went to Sam Stosur house at 6 a.m. in the morning.
The way she behaves in interviews and off-court appearances sure makes me think she is on some kind of drugs, though not necessarily the performance enhancing type.
Dunno, not enough information about this incident to do anything more than speculate.
Well I certainly think thers something quite suspect with the whole situation.
And yes, the whole off court stuff she does could be seen as recreational drug use 🙂

Well… Serena did have a stalker who was arrested a few months ago. So, that may explain her being a bit nervous of strange people at her door. But who knows about anything else.

I agree that strangers at your door at 6am is something to be a little nervous about, though she’s been a professional tennis player since 1995. I find it baffling that she wasn’t expecting “out of competition” random drug testing (every pro has to do it); which is why I’m a little suspicious, hence there was no report of her actually taking the test….
